Culture clash: Why Arena of Valor is struggling in America from Bale's blog

It's impossible to debate that Tencent's Honor of Kings isn't biggest mobile game from the world at Fortnite Items .

In 2017, the mobile MOBA generated $1.9 billion in revenue and boasted 200 million active players in China alone. It took over as focus of the new esports initiative referred to as the King Pro League (KPL). Younger players even had their play time restricted by Tencent in July a year ago after government concerns about its impact.

Yet inside west, its sister title Arena of Valor is disappointingly plodding along. According to Sensor Tower, the sport has taken 6 months to cross the main one million install mark on both Google Play and also the App Store inside country. Furthermore, it's only generated $3 million up to now - under Honor of Kings does in the single day domestically at .

"Arena of Valor just has generated $3 million thus far - a lot less than Honor of Kings does inside a single day domestically"

Why then is Arena of Valor struggling from the US? Partially, it's actually a victim to advertise trends, but mostly it is just a game lost in translation. By being stripped of China's unique cultural and market context, Arena of Valor lost most of what made Honor of Kings work, and contains suffered inside process.
